Chapter 139: Going Back Home
Chapter 139: Going Back Home
Raiden didn’t waste any more time that afternoon and decided to go back home. It’s been almost three months since he left his farm, and he missed it terribly.
After handling everything with the doctors, he walked into Isadora’s office, ready to inform her of his decision, only to find her watching something on a Desktop with an amused expression on her face.
"Hey!! I am done with the hospital stuff, and I am leaving the base now, see you lat—"
"I love you, silly~"
"Morgana..."
"Say it back~"
"I love you too."
Raiden froze in his tracks as he heard the familiar sounds coming from the desktop. Hearing these sounds, he felt like he wanted to crawl into the earth and disappear.
It was probably one of the most embarrassing incidents he had ever felt, especially being exposed like this in front of Isadora, his future mother-in-law, for the first time.
"Well, well, well~ What do we have here?? If not for the CCTV cameras in the hospital, I would have been living in the dark for God knows how long. You little brat, you already swindled away my dearest daughter, the apple of my eye, my darling, my baby! And after doing all that, you still had the gall to bargain with me?? Confess honestly. Since how long this has been going on or..."
Isadora let her words hang in the air as she looked at him with a serious expression on her face. But if one looks at her closely, one can find the mirth and amusement hidden in her eyes.
"I-Ahh-I am sorry!!" Raiden bowed down obediently while cursing her in his heart. Who puts CCTV cameras in a patient room? But then again, it was a military barracks. There were probably hidden cameras everywhere except the bathroom.
" I don’t want to hear that. I am more curious about you two. Since all this has been going on? When did my poor, innocent daughter fall for a shameless person like you?? Speak, my dear son-in-law, or I will have to have Morgana fly back from the selection test at Archon Academy and question her myself."
Hearing the threat in her voice and not wanting his beloved to get into trouble, Raiden started confessing honestly.
He told her how Morgana came to his farm to stay for a few days, how they got closer, and how he boldly confessed to her, which she accepted.
He might have tweaked the story a little bit, but it was mostly accurate, making Isadora hum as she tapped her fingers against the handrest of her chair.
"So you have been dating my daughter even well before you came into the base, and you had the cheek to have that conversation with me on the first day? You truly have a thorough, shameless personality."
Isadora got up from her chair and slowly walked in front of Raiden, who felt an ever-increasing pressure on his shoulders.
It wasn’t exuded by Isadora. No, it was her sheer presence and the role she had in his life as the mother of his girlfriend that put the immense pressure on him as she got closer and closer before she stopped a few centimetres away from him.
"You have done well, boy. I’m barely satisfied with you for now. But if you EVER hurt my daughter in your life, I will fly to the ends of the earth to hunt you down. You will be respectful to her and no hanky panky until you are both 21 or married. Got it??"
Isadora’s face got closer as she spoke until it was just a few inches away from his as she stared deep into his eyes.
Raiden, feeling the terror in her voice, nodded his head at the fastest speed possible, fearing that if he was even a millisecond late, she might put him through that brutal training again.
"Good boy." A smile broke out on her face as she patted his cheeks with her hands, before moving back to her seat, as nothing happened.
"You can leave for now. I’ll arrange for someone to take you home. Don’t disappoint me, my dear son-in-law~ I will be watching you."
"Alright, see you later, ’Mom~’"
Raiden ran out of the room as he spoke, leaving behind an amused Isadora in her office.
She shook her head before taking out her phone and dialling a certain number. She needed to have a talk with her dear daughter, who dared to hide such an important event in her life.
"Hello, my dearest daughter ~ What is this I am hearing about you and Raiden, hmm?? You better speak before I fly over there and..."
------------------------------
She truly wasn’t kidding when she said she would send someone to escort him home as Raiden from an entire convoy of big black SUVs standing in front of the base, all of them here to escort him back safely.
Raiden decided to board onto one of them while holding a sleeping Neva and Woolie in both of his hands.
Soon, the convoy of fifteen vehicles set off from the base, moving towards his home, attracting attention from all the passers-by in the city who were wondering which VIP person was passing through.
In no time at all, Raiden found himself passing through the same familiar outskirts before the convoy stopped in front of his farm, dropping him off respectfully.
"Take care of yourself, sir. We’ll be off now."
After a nod from Raiden, the entire convoy drove away, leaving him behind as he watched the peaceful home, which somehow soothed his nerves a little.
The farm looked exactly the same as he had left it, like it was detached from the world and beyond the all the chaos he experienced in his life.
Raiden took a big breath of the fresh air, exhaling it lightly, as a light smile appeared on his face.
"I am finally home."
"Big brother, is this you??" Sylvia, who had been sitting at home, came out after hearing the commotion. She was pleasantly surprised as she ran towards him in a full sprint before putting herself in his arms.
"You have been gone for so long!! I missed you a lot!!"
"Hehehe, I missed you too, little Sylvi, I missed you too."
