Chapter 32: Persuading Dr. Connors, and Setting Off

Chapter 32: Persuading Dr. Connors, and Setting Off

Dr. Connors was taken aback when he heard this. He looked around and then realized that the laboratory he was in was equipped with an extraordinary amount of equipment!

And these devices are in no way inferior to the ones he used at Osborn Enterprises; they are all top-of-the-line products from various biotechnology companies on the market!

Is the salary really that high when working for Fisker?

I should have known he would apply to Fisker Enterprises too!

He'd probably go bankrupt just trying to buy one of these top-of-the-line research instruments!

This is why he has always chosen to stay at Osborn Corporation, because Osborn Corporation has the world's best and most complete top-level biological research equipment for him to use for free!

Toby's lab is in no way inferior to his lab at Osborn Enterprises.

If he continues his research here, he might actually be able to perfect the lizard regeneration potion!

Dr. Connors wasn't stupid either. After seeing how well-equipped Toby's place was, he knew that Toby had obviously brought him here for a purpose.

Therefore, he hesitated for a moment, then looked at Toby and asked, "So you want me to work for you and help you improve the lizard regeneration serum?"

That was indeed his goal, so Toby readily admitted it:

"That's right. I've been eyeing the regenerative effects of lizard regeneration serum for a long time. It has great value whether for personal use or commercial purposes, so I hope you can help me improve it."

"In return, I will resolve the troubles you've caused, including the police officers' deaths you're responsible for, and reclaim the research results that Osborn Corporation has held over the years, including ownership of the lizard regeneration serum."

"Of course, you can take back the other research findings, but the ownership of the lizard regeneration serum belongs to me; you only have the right to use it."

Dr. Connors remained silent for a long while after hearing this, but finally nodded: "Alright, I promise you..."

It wasn't that Dr. Connors was truly willing to give Toby his lizard regeneration serum results, but rather that he was simply out of options.

Now that he failed to deliver the lizard regeneration serum to Norman Osborn on time, he definitely can't go back to Osborn Enterprises. Besides, he killed several police officers after becoming a lizard man, so even if he could go back, he would probably be arrested immediately.

As Toby said, he didn't want to spend his life in prison; he wanted to complete his lifelong dream of research.

Therefore, he actually only had one option left: to agree to Toby's offer...

Seeing Dr. Connors nod, Toby smiled with satisfaction:

"A wise choice, Doctor."

"However, I will be leaving for a while. Before I return, Doctor, you would be better off staying here and avoiding trouble until things calm down.

"This underground laboratory has a complete ecosystem, as well as a lounge, and an underground gym on the floor above and below. You can use it to your heart's content."

"I will also have Peter come to be your assistant after school every day. Just tell him what you need."

Dr. Connors nodded silently, indicating that he had no objection.

Seeing that Dr. Connors was not in high spirits and looked a bit tired, Toby didn't say anything more.

After recording Dr. Connors's access to the lab, he left the underground lab.

Hmm, it's 9 o'clock, time to go to sleep again.

At 6 a.m., Toby woke up on time.

Mei hadn't gotten up yet, so Toby's taste buds could rest for a bit, and he made himself a simple and delicious breakfast.

Half an hour later, Kingpin's men knocked on the door and gave Toby his passport and plane ticket.

The flight was in half an hour, so Toby grabbed his luggage and set off immediately.

On the way, I sent Peter a text message, asking him to assist Dr. Connors' research while I was away.

Then came the long flight and layover time.

We set off in the morning and landed in Afghanistan late at night.

Kingpin's network of connections was indeed strong, even extending to Afghanistan, where someone was already waiting for him at the airport.

He was given the brand-new Jeep that had been prepared.

The jeep was thoughtfully equipped with dry food, water, thick blankets, windproof clothing, and other essential items.

It must be said that if you don't treat Kingpin as an enemy but as a friend, then Kingpin is actually quite reliable.

Time is of the essence; every minute wasted increases the risk of Tony losing his $50 million.

So Toby set off immediately after getting into the jeep.

As for how he will find the exact location where Tony is being held, it may be a huge problem for those useless US military personnel who lost Tony.

Have they been looking for Tony for over two months and still haven't found him? They're utterly useless!

But for Toby, it was very simple.

Because he has the advantage of being a prophet!

Although the movie doesn't directly tell you the coordinates of the cave where Tony is being held, it does clearly tell you the name of the gang that kidnapped Tony.

The Ten Commandments Gang!

So that makes things simple; just find someone to find out where the Ten Commandments' headquarters is...

One day later.

Tony has moved away from the Afghan airport and arrived in the Kunar area, where Tony disappeared.

This is a rather chaotic area.

This area contains not only Afghan military bases, but also US military bases and various terrorist bases.

This includes the Ten Rings gang's base where Tony was kidnapped.

Toby's method of asking for directions was quite simple: he would drive around in his car in areas known as no-go zones and teeming with terrorists.

Unsurprisingly, Toby's arrogance quickly attracted the attention of a group of terrorists.

Two dilapidated vehicles, each equipped with a machine gun, looked exactly like the jeeps from Mad Max, blocking Toby's path from one in front and the other behind.

Toby obediently turned off the engine and parked the car, then skillfully got out with his hands raised.

Seeing that the other party was so compliant, the terrorists in the two jeeps blocking the road lowered their guard and didn't even raise the machine guns on the roofs.

Apart from the driver, the others just grabbed a few broken AKs and got out of the car to walk towards Toby.

The leader, a man with a white turban and a large beard, sized Toby up and down, then glanced greedily at the expensive new Jeep behind Toby:

"Mereka people?"

Toby raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

I never expected to be so lucky; the first person I asked for directions spoke a language I could understand.

So Toby nodded and smiled at the bearded man:

"Yes, can we talk over by your car? Because I don't want to get my car dirty later."

Toby didn't want his car to be covered in blood or him to get accidentally injured.

The bearded leader nodded with a smile: "Oh, friend, of course, I don't want to get 'my car' dirty either."

Big Beard didn't want his new car to get stained with blood or get accidentally injured.

So, despite their differing objectives, they surprisingly reached a consensus on protecting Toby's vehicle!
