Chapter 113 Frost Giant Invasion
Chapter 113 Frost Giant Invasion
The observer's figure completely disappeared from the secret chamber, and the oppressive aura dissipated along with the observer's disappearance. The runes on the walls stopped cracking, leaving only a few broken rune fragments scattered on the ground.
The Holy Lord sat cross-legged in the secret chamber again, with the Reality Stone floating in front of him, but this time its light was much dimmer than before the Observer appeared.
He now has only three talismans to choose from.
The Holy Lord closed his eyes and began to think.
The Mind Stone had already been used to bless the Rat, Snake, and Monkey talismans. Now he needed to use the Reality Stone to bless the other three. These three talismans that had already been blessed were no longer among the Holy Lord's choices.
The Holy Lord opened his eyes and scanned the surrounding talismans.
The first talisman he chose was the Dragon Talisman.
The Dragon Talisman is the most destructive of the twelve talismans. It can unleash a powerful burst of energy. If it is enhanced by the Reality Stone, this power is not just simple destruction, but a power that can manifest destruction.
The second one he chose was the Horse Talisman.
The Horse Talisman represents healing and restoration. From the parallel timeline, we know that it was enhanced like other talismans. Now it can not only heal, but also serve as a source of energy. If the Horse Talisman can rewrite reality, any defined anomaly will be considered an error and erased from the causal state.
The last one the Holy Lord chose was the Rabbit Talisman.
The Rabbit Talisman represents speed, granting the user extremely high movement speed. When enhanced by the Reality Stone, the Rabbit Talisman's power will not be limited by the laws of reality, allowing for extreme speeds that surpass physical limits. It's not impossible for it to become a low-end version of the Space Stone or even a low-end version of the Time Stone.
The three talismans represent destruction, restoration, and movement.
The Holy Lord nodded in satisfaction; a perfect combination.
The Holy Lord began to infuse the Reality Stone's power into the three talismans. Dark red energy enveloped the talismans, and their surfaces began to emit a piercing buzzing sound. The carvings on the talismans became even more realistic.
The whole process lasted about an hour. After the dark red light dissipated, the three talismans had undergone a qualitative change.
A month after Loki's coronation, the news had already reached Jotunheim.
A cold wind howled through the palace of the Frost Giants, whose blue skin glowed faintly in the darkness. After the death of the newly appointed Giant King Laufey, his second-in-command Helblindy took over. He now sat on the giant throne carved from ice, holding a letter sent by Loki.
"Equality?" Helblindy threw the letter to the ground, his icy voice echoing through the palace: "The Asgardians killed our king, killed our people, oppressed us for millennia, and now they've changed their king, and they think they can fob us off with the word 'equality'?"
The surrounding giant generals simultaneously let out an angry roar.
"Odin is dead!" A burly giant general stepped forward. "This is the best opportunity in thousands of years. Asgard is now leaderless, Thor is suppressed, Loki is a usurper, and they are internally divided. If we do not attack now, we will never have another chance once they unite."
“That’s right!” another giant general chimed in. “Loki himself is a descendant of the Frost Giants, but he betrayed his own race and chose to grovel before the Asgardians. Such a betrayal is more hateful than Odin’s.”
Helblindi rose from his throne, his figure towering over the other giants, his blue skin marked with the scars of the previous battle.
Helblindy's voice echoed around: "Summon all the giants who can still fight! We will show the people of Asgard that the Frost Giants are not lambs to the slaughter! Odin is dead, so let his son and that usurper be buried with him!"
The giant generals roared with thunderous cheers, and the whole of Jotunheim trembled.
Asgard, the Golden Palace.
Loki sat on his throne, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. A guard rushed in from outside the hall, kneeling on one knee, his face pale: "Your Highness! The Bifrost has detected a large-scale spatial fluctuation. At least a thousand enormous life signals are approaching Asgard from the direction of Jotunheim."
Loki stopped tapping, his voice showing no surprise: "It's finally here."
The Holy Lord opened his eyes, his voice eerily calm: "The giants have chosen to refuse."
Loki rose from his throne, his green robes billowing behind him. "I can handle it. Although Asgard's army is not what it used to be, it's more than enough to deal with those frost giants."
The Holy Lord shook his head and rose from the throne, which was even more magnificent than Loki's throne: "No, leave this matter to me."
Loki turned to look at Shendu, the Spear of Eternity humming softly in Shendu's hand: "You? Why?"
The Holy Lord did not answer, but walked out of the hall, with Wanda following behind him, chaotic magic coalescing into a cloak behind her.
Loki, watching Shendu's retreating figure, suddenly understood something. Shendu wasn't trying to defend Asgard, but rather to use this war to demonstrate his power and let everyone in the Nine Realms know who the true master of Asgard was now.
"Madman," Loki muttered under his breath, but still followed.
On the Rainbow Bridge.
The Asgardian soldiers had already formed ranks, their golden armor gleaming in the sunlight, but every soldier's face was filled with tension and fear. Putting aside their resentment towards Loki's rule and their forced entry into battle, they were about to face an army carrying a thousand-year-old hatred.
Thor stood at the forefront of the soldiers, Mjolnir humming in his hands. He had been training alone on the training ground, but rushed to the Rainbow Bridge as soon as he heard the alarm.
It was his duty, even though he was no longer under Loki's rule.
"Thor." Loki's voice came from behind.
Thor turned his head and saw Loki and Shendu walking towards him.
Thor's voice was cold: "Loki, what are you doing here? Wouldn't it be better to stay in your golden palace and continue being your puppet emperor?"
Loki's expression changed, but he didn't react. He simply said calmly, "The giants are coming. You can't handle this alone."
"So you're here to help?" Thor sneered. "Or are you here to watch me die?"
The Holy Lord walked to the front of the formation, the tip of the Spear of Eternity pointing to the sky. A golden light shot up and exploded in the sky, forming a huge golden light curtain.
"Enough." The Holy Lord's voice wasn't loud, but everyone present heard it clearly: "I'll handle the matter of the giants."
Thor looked at the Holy Lord with wary eyes: "What do you want to do?"
The Holy Lord did not answer; he simply walked alone to the very front of the Rainbow Bridge to face the approaching, dark army of frost giants.
