Chapter 544: Does It Ring A Bell?

Chapter 544: Does It Ring A Bell?

(Author’s POV)

"Wha~t~ ... do you th~ink~ ... you are doi~ng, Ala~ric Evere~sts?" Garry groaned, looking straight at the person. "What~ ... ~is the me~aning of all~ thi~s?"

Alaric’s eyes glowed, as darkness lurked around him. He glared at the old man and spat, "Garry Yates, didn’t my man give you the answer earlier? I wanted to talk to you, one~ on~ one."

Garry immediately recalled the speeding black car, the crash, and the intruder. With yet another grunt, he asked, "You~ .... it was yo~ur man was~ who was chas~ing afte~r my ca~r? Yo~u wer~e beh~ind the~ cra~sh? Why~ .... what did I do~ ... to you?"

"What did you do to me?" Alaric repeated his words; his shoulders shook as, out of the blue, he burst out laughing, "Hahhh hahaha~ .... Hahahhaha~ ...." his hand was on his forehead, concealing his expression. "You are seriously asking me~ .... what did you do? HOW FUCKING AUDACIOUS OF YOU." he roared. "Stop fucking playing this innocent act."

"I don’t under~stand wha~t you ar~e tryi~ng to say?" Garry said, trying to suppress the pulsing headache. He noticed that his bleeding forehead was covered with gauze, already patched up.

"Drop this naïve act for once~ .... YOU SHAMELESS BASTARD. You say... you don’t understand what I am saying~ ... fine .... let me jog down your memory a bit," Alaric spouted, enraged. He then leaned in and muttered, his voice low and menacing, "Twenty one years ago~ .... at Saint Patrick Hospital in Kimberg. Does it ring a bell now?" Not once did his eyes shift from Garry. If looks could kill, the old man would have been long dead.

At the mention of the hospital, there was a subtle change in Garry’s eyes; his tied hand’s fist clenched. Though normally, it would have been unnoticeable, Alaric sensed the shift. Gritting his teeth, he added, "Ohhh~ ... yes, it does. It fucking does."

He got up from his chair and walked towards Garry, giving him a resonating slap, "YOU FUCKER~ you dare to kidnap my sister. How dare you, how fucking dare you?"

Though Alaric hadn’t put all his strength in that slap, Garry’s head tilted to the side; blood trickled down from the corner of his mouth. But still, Garry tried to defend himself, "Alari~c, it’s not~ wh~at you thin~king."

Grabbing his chin roughly, Alaric yanked Garry’s face as he bored his claws into his cheeks and growled, a deafening, ear splitting growl. His eyes turned fiery red. Garry remained still, very still. His facial features hardened at the sheer display of power. He knew very well that one wrong word~ ... one wrong move~ .... and he won’t get a chance to explain. His head would be plucked off his shoulders.

"Why~ .... why did you do that? What did you snatch away twenty years of my sister’s life?" Alaric snarled, interrogating. "Did you find it thrilling? Were you satisfied seeing Nora suffer in that disgusting place? You cunt."

Garry pursed his lips as Alaric’s barrage of questions put him to shame.

"Tell me~ ... who are you working for? Who is behind you? Who asked you to abduct my sister? Tell me~ ... tell me, damnit," Alaric was ready to lose his temper again. But couldn’t kill Garry, not yet. He wanted answers. He wanted to know who was backing Garry Yates.

"No one is behind me~ ... Alaric," Garry replied, trying to remain calm.

"DON’T YOU FUCKING LIE," Alaric shouted as he threw a stack of documents in his face. The sharp edges made a few tiny cuts on Garry’s face. He pointed towards the scattered papers and shouted, "No one is behind you~ .... what is this~ then~ ....?"

With just a glance, Garry saw the photographs of his time in the underworld. There was also a picture with Brian Tape and Alaric’s banished and cast out uncle~ ... Casper Lucian Everests. And lastly, the picture of him with a hefty bag, running away. The date mentioned on it was the same as Nora’s birthday.

"Alaric Everests, it’s not what it seems like," Garry said. "I used to work in the syndicate. But I have left that dirty work a long time ago. These people.... I have no connection with them. They were just regulars."

"STILL LYING~~~~~ ...." This time Alex roared in his face; his animalistic tone sounded sinister. "If you keep this act up~ ... your tongue~ ... I will dismantle it and feed it to the fishes." He pointed his finger towards a small aquarium with small, deadly, frenzied fishes swarming around.

All remaining colour drained from Garry’s face. That wasn’t an empty threat. He let out a long, exhausting sigh and decided to be honest for once. But before that, he took a gamble: "If I tell you everything~ .... you will have to let me live."

Both Alaric and Alex were appalled by his sheer audacity. With another tight slap to Garry’s face, he said, "Do you think you are in any condition to negotiate here?"

"Promise me first," Garry was adamant. "Promise my safety. I have someone I owe. I can’t let that person down. I have to live and keep that person safe."

Alaric scoffed agitatedly, "You owe my sister~ .... you owe Nora as well, you bastard. You owe her twenty years of her life. Because of you, she had to live in that dreadful orphanage. And those adoptive parents of hers~ ... the Smiths, because of you she was pushed into that household. Her place was in Kimberg. She is the one and only Lycan princess. So~ ... it is only right you pay all that suffering with your own life." He levelled his eyes and asked once again, "Now~ ... tell me the names. Who put you up to it?"

"I already answered. I did it on my own. No one ordered me," Garry repeated. "Young~ Alpha~ Alaric."

"You saying~ ... a weak human like you decided to kidnap the Lycan princess and did it without any help. Give me a break. Do you hear yourself? It doesn’t make fucking sense. And you think I will believe you," Alaric spat.

"You can choose to believe me or not. That’s up to you~ ..., but what I am telling you is the truth. Lycan Princess, Miss. Nora Everests, she was not the one I ordered to take away. It was the other infant girl," Garry finally dropped the bombshell.
