Chapter 162 The Three Unforgivable Curses

Chapter 162 The Three Unforgivable Curses

The busy days passed in the blink of an eye, and soon everyone was about to have Professor Moody's first Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Given the uproar caused by the conflict between Professor Moody and Black a few days ago, many young wizards realized that this new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor might be... not someone to mess with.

The young wizards' fear made the atmosphere in the classroom exceptionally quiet.

Soon, Professor Moody's distinctive thumping footsteps came down the corridor.

He walked into the classroom and his first words were a gruff shout to everyone, "Put your textbooks away! You don't need them!"

The young wizards obediently put their textbooks into their drawers, some even with a hint of excitement in their eyes.

Next, Moody took out the roster and began counting the number of people.

“Very good, everyone is here.” After calling out the last student’s name, Moody continued, “I received a letter from Professor Lupin introducing the course. It seems you have already mastered quite a bit of knowledge about dealing with dark magic creatures, such as Boggarts, Red Hats, Grindelwalds, and werewolves.”

“But you haven’t learned enough, far from enough, how to deal with spells…” Moody successfully piqued the curiosity of the young wizards.

Can someone tell me what the three unforgivable curses are?

Moody gave a knowing smile, which made his scarred face look even more terrifying.

"Mr. Weasley!"

Ron sprang up like a spring, stammering, "I heard... my dad mention... something called... the Imperius Curse?"

“Oh, yes!” Moody exclaimed approvingly. “Your father must know this spell; it’s caused the Ministry of Magic a lot of trouble.”

After saying that, Moody stood up with difficulty and took out a glass bottle from the lectern drawer. Ron froze instantly—inside were three spiders, still crawling around erratically.

Without hesitation, Moody reached in, grabbed a spider, placed it in his palm, and after making sure everyone could see his action, murmured, "Out of body!"

The spider immediately jumped out of Moody's palm and began to move according to the swing of Moody's wand, jumping onto the desk of one classmate and climbing onto another person's arm.

"It's completely under my control. I can choose to make it jump out of the window, or I can make it jump into the bucket and drown..."

"Can you imagine someone using it on someone else? The cursed person will become the caster's puppet."

"But I will teach you how to resist the Imperius Curse, though not everyone can master it, so always be vigilant!"

Moody suddenly roared, startling everyone.

Next, Moody demonstrated the other two Unforgivable Curses to everyone.

When the second spider was afflicted by the Cruciatus Curse, it kept turning over and its body convulsed violently, neither of them doubting the other's pain.

The Cruciatus Curse only stopped after Hermione screamed to stop it, because Neville looked very unwell.

“Now, there’s only one spell left,” Moody’s words made many young wizards secretly breathe a sigh of relief.

Avada Kedavra!

A blinding green light made everyone unable to open their eyes. When they finally opened their eyes again to look at the spider, it was already dead.

It lay motionless on the table, without a single scratch on its body.

Harry stared almost blankly at the dead spider, paying no attention to what Professor Moody was saying.

His mind was filled with the images he had seen after encountering the Dementors last year...

After a long silence, Harry thought sadly that perhaps the Dementors were actually good for him; at least he had been able to "see" his parents again through them...

"...The Avada Kedavra curse requires powerful magical energy as its foundation..."

In class, Moody was lecturing, and the young wizards below were writing furiously, no one daring to utter a word.

But after class, they began to discuss the three spells they had just heard.

"Did you see that? He killed that spider without even blinking!" A blonde little witch exclaimed in surprise.

His companion chimed in, "That's right, the second spider was in so much pain, and he only stopped casting the spell because of Granger!"

"So, could Blake also be getting tutoring...something so terrifying?...She seems to have offended Professor Moody the other day!"

"Maybe?"

Similar conversations were common at Hogwarts. Thanks to Thea's popularity among the young wizards, almost everyone who witnessed Moody's teaching methods couldn't help but feel deep sympathy for Thea.

Thea didn't bother to clarify the rumors. She kept going back and forth between the office, classroom, and library, as if time had returned to the time when she was in solitary confinement with Dumbledore in her second year.

Barty Jr. also took Thea's advice and stopped trying to gain Potter's trust by standing up for him. Instead, he focused more on improving Potter's spellcasting skills, since he was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and it was only natural for him to teach these things.

"Today, I will use the Imperius Curse on each of you to teach you how to resist it!"

As soon as Moody finished speaking, the young wizards were horrified!

"Dumbledore will not allow you to do that!"

Some young wizards raised questions, but were defeated by Moody's statement, "This is what Dumbledore suggested to me."

Seeing that resistance was futile, the crowd had no choice but to bite the bullet and line up.

Moody's malice towards Slytherin was on full display in this class; he made Theodore roll on the floor, made Zabini repeatedly jump onto the chair, and made Draco pull his own face...

"Next, Blake!"

Everyone watched as Moody raised his wand at Thea: "Out of body!"

In the silence, the girl's body trembled slightly, but she remained motionless. After a long while, when Moody put down his wand, she opened her eyes, beads of sweat on her forehead: "...Professor?"

Everyone then realized what was happening and stared intently at Professor Moody. Moody narrowed his eyes and after a long pause, said, "Look... very good. Black successfully resisted the Imperius Curse. Excellent demonstration. Slytherin, 10 points."

A collective gasp filled the classroom as everyone stared in disbelief at Thea's retreating figure.

Moody frowned slightly and shouted sharply, "Next! Tevez!"

A boy in a green robe walked up with a pale face.
