Chapter 101 Harry Enters the Chamber of Secrets
Chapter 101 Harry Enters the Chamber of Secrets
"Harry! What did you say?"
Ron stared wide-eyed at his best buddy, his face full of disbelief, seriously suspecting that the guy's brain had been damaged by the troll.
"Ron, the monster in the secret chamber is the basilisk!"
Harry repeated to Ron.
"How did you know? Is the information reliable?" Ron was somewhat skeptical.
"I saw the information that Daphne gave to Thea a few days ago, and today I went to the library and found some information about the basilisk."
In our country, many terrible beasts and monsters roam, among which the most bizarre and deadly are the serpent monsters.
The basilisk kills in a terrifying way; in addition to its deadly fangs, its glare can also be fatal.
Anyone who is stared at by its gaze will die instantly.
Spiders flee at the sight of basilisks, for basilisks are their mortal enemies. Basilisks, in turn, flee in terror at the mere sound of a rooster crowing, for the rooster's crow is also deadly to them.
"The sound of a rooster crowing?" Ron repeated, somewhat surprised.
"Yes."
"Where is the entrance to the secret room? Do you know?" Ron continued to ask.
“Do you remember what Aragog said? A girl died at Hogwarts 50 years ago, and the time of her death matches the timeline we’ve pieced together!” Harry exclaimed excitedly.
"You mean, the Weeping Myrtle?"
“That’s right, the bathroom where Myrtle is is the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets!” Harry said with great certainty.
Before Ron could question it, Professor McGonagall's voice echoed throughout Hogwarts.
"All young wizards, return to your dormitories immediately!"
With Professor McGonagall's further announcement, the young wizards realized that the petrification had occurred once again!
Harry and his companion didn't have time to continue talking and quickly ran towards the lounge.
As they passed the corner of the stairs, the two heard the professors talking.
"The Chamber of Locked Chamber incident has happened once again. The heir of Slytherin left behind a message: the worst has come to pass, and a student has been imprisoned in the Chamber of Locked Chamber." Professor McGonagall's sorrowful voice rang out.
Just as the professor next to him was about to say something, a boastful voice rang out: "Is there anything I can help with?"
"The locked-room mystery has happened again, Lockhart, it's your turn this time."
Snape stared at the other person with an unfriendly look and said coldly.
"I'm leaving the matter of the secret room to you, Lockhart."
Professor McGonagall was extremely impatient; Lockhart had truly angered her this time.
“Okay, I’ll go to my office to get ready.” Lockhart looked at the two of them, forcing a smile.
As Lockhart left, the people in the corridor also departed.
Seeing Harry and Ron rushing toward Lockhart's office, Thea, who was hiding in the shadows, finally released her hand from Draco's.
"Thea, why are you covering me? I'm not going to make a sound."
The little peacock pouted in dissatisfaction.
"Listen, Draco, you're going back to your dorm right now. If anyone asks me, just say I'm sleeping in my dorm. Daphne will cooperate."
Thea didn't have time to explain to Draco right now, and she gave him a serious instruction.
After hastily uttering those words, Thea turned to leave, but Draco grabbed her wrist.
She turned around and could clearly see that the other person's eyes were red.
"What are you going to do this time? Last year it was a troll, this year it's a basilisk?"
Is the savior so important that you'd risk your life for him again and again?
Thea felt a little helpless. She stepped forward, gently hugged the stubborn boy, and whispered:
"Don't worry, I know the secret chamber so well, and I speak the Parsleyan language, the Basilisk won't do anything to me. Besides, I'm just going to take a look, nothing will happen."
Sensing that Draco's attitude was softening, Thea was about to leave when a large number of packaged potion bottles were stuffed into her hands.
"These are the hemostatic and antidote medicines I made recently. Take them with you! I'll help you smooth things over with the prefect."
Thea looked at the boy, who seemed a little vulnerable, and finally reassured him, "Don't worry, I will definitely come back safely."
After saying that, Thea went straight to the bathroom.
Draco glanced at Thea one last time, then strode towards the cellar, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a way to fool the prefect.
"Hey! Myrtle!" Thea greeted Myrtle cheerfully.
"Thea!" Myrtle looked at Thea, who was covered in sweat, with surprise and excitement, and rushed over, but passed straight through Thea's body.
“…I’m sorry, Thea, I forgot again.” Myrtle said with some guilt.
"It's nothing," Thea waved her hand dismissively. "By the way, do you remember what we agreed on before?"
"Of course I remember, is it starting today?" Myrtle asked cheerfully.
"Yes, thank you for your help!"
Thea softened her tone, but Myrtle urged her, "Alright! Hurry up and go in, I think I heard someone coming."
"Okay! Thank you!"
"Hiss... hiss... hiss," the next second, Thea jumped into the entrance of the secret room.
As soon as Thea jumped into the sink, the sink immediately returned to its original state.
A short while later, Harry and Ron brought Lockhart in.
"Hello, Harry! How can I help you?"
One second they were greeting each other in a friendly manner, and the next second their tone became somber.
Harry didn't care and pressed on, "How did you die?"
Myrtle rolled her eyes silently upon hearing this. What an impolite child! She's nothing like Thea, who's so endearing!
Because of her promise to Thea, Myrtle could only suppress her temper and continue to guide her to the entrance to the secret room.
“I don’t remember, I just remember it was there,” Myrtle said, pointing to the edge of a trough. “I saw a pair of very large, yellow eyes.”
The basilisk's eyes are yellow!
Harry and Ron exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of surprise in each other's eyes.
“Harry, try speaking in Parsley!” Ron warned.
"Hiss... hiss... hiss"
As soon as Harry finished speaking, a passage appeared in the middle of the sink.
The two exchanged a glance and kicked Lockhart, who was trying to desert, into the passage!
"Oh!"
With a thud, Harry jumped into the passage first, followed closely by Ron.
Watching the three of them jump into the passage, Myrtle murmured, "Thea, I did the task you gave me. You promised me you would help me kill the basilisk!"
I hope you won't break your promise. You're... my best friend here..."
In the silence, Myrtle's voice stood out, but no one but herself would notice a ghost talking to itself.
Myrtle was not a popular girl in life, and she was just as lonely after her death.
